French artist JR presents his movie "Women are Heroes", a documentary giving insight into the lives of women in Brazil, Kenya and Cambodia, who are heroically fighting their daily battle against sexual repression, poverty and injustice. Heroes in a very real sense, who are not only filmed by the artist JR, but also photographed for the purpose of posting these glowing, larger-than-life portraits on buildings and walls in their close vicinity to call attention to their lives.

partner, real estate company JP, enables the festival's
exhibition to take place right in the center of Vienna.
JP generously volunteered to provide a complete building (before
construction works are to start for the remodeling of these premises) to host
the entire exhibition - in doing so, the renowned real estate company follows
its focus on supporting community based cultural initiatives to connect organizations, businesses
and collectors to contemporary art.

Aram Bartholl / Outdoor projectsThe artist Aram Bartholl will organize one of his public interventions.
Collaborating with coded cultures festival (city as interspace) Aram Bartholl will be leading a group of participants along the area of the danube canal for his dead drops project. 'Dead Drops' is an anonymous, offline, peer to peer file-sharing network in public space. USB flash drives are embedded into walls, buildings and curbs accessable to anybody in public space. Everyone is invited to drop or find files on a dead drop. Plug your laptop to a wall, house or pole to share your favorite files and data. Each dead drop is installed empty except a readme.txt file explaining the project.
